Wordsworth House and Garden
Easter Egg Trail
Friday 29th March - Wednesday 10th April
The Easter trail takes you along 10 activities within the house’s many rooms and out in the garden to enjoy the best of spring.
£3 per child including a Rainforest Alliance chocolate egg, with a vegan and Free From option available.
Rucksack of Rhymes: Our Planet
Tuesday 9th April
Sessions at 10:30 and 12:30
Join for songs, play, craft and a story exploring our planet, and on the way learn what life was like for William and Dorothy Wordsworth when they lived at Wordsworth House and Dove Cottage right here on Earth over 200 years ago
Honister Slate Mine - Kids Go Free
Kids (under 16yrs) go Free with any paying adult on their mine tours.
Honister’s Mine Tour offers a fascinating family day out in the Lake District, regardless of the weather. Learn about slate mining’s history and process while exploring Fleetwith Pike’s depths and enjoying breathtaking views of the Lakes.
During the tour, an experienced miner will guide you through the impressive tunnels and caverns while sharing interesting stories about the mine’s history. You’ll also see the machinery used to extract the slate and watch as the guide demonstrates how the slate is split and trimmed, giving you a hands-on understanding of the process.
For the more adventurous family members, Honister also offers a range of adrenaline-fuelled activities such as climbing the mine (8 yrs+) , Via Ferrata (10 yrs+), Canyoning and Europe’s longest highwire bridge – The Infinity Bridge
During your visit, there’s also a slate gallery and gift shop to explore with a variety of slate products all made from the slate mined right here at Honister. Take home a unique and authentic souvenir to remember your visit. There’s also a cafe serving freshly prepared homemade food and delicious cakes to refuel during your visit.

Sessions at 9.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm each day and at 3.30pm on Saturday 30th
Babies under 6 months go free, Toddlers 6 months- 2 years £7.95, Children aged 3-12 years £12.95.
Presenting a lineup of at least 10 inflatables, encompassing bouncy castles, inflatable slides, obstacle courses, and disco castles.
Additionally, a specially designated area will be available for toddlers.
Parking is available on-site and snacks will be available.

Calvert Lakes - Easter Kids Club
The Kids Club is for children aged 12 years and under

Fri 5th April 1.30pm – 3.30pm
Tues 9th April 1.30pm – 3.30pm.
- Each session is 2 hours long.
- As well as having a ride you will learn about taking care of your pony’s needs.
Each session will include one of the following pony Care Topics:
- How to groom your pony, to include learning all the different brushes and their uses.
- Tacking up and learning different parts of the tack
- Parts of the pony
- How to lead and handle you pony
The sessions in the Easter Holidays will include easter egg hunts and games.

Whinlatter Forest
Nature's Nightlife
Saturday 23rd March. Starts at 6pm - Meet at the Yurt
Join us for a magical guided evening walk through the forest.
Listen out for owls, learn about the wildlife in the forest and experience the wonders of the night sky. Finish with hot chocolate & marshmallows around a campfire.
Please bring a torch, wear warm clothing and sturdy footwear.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
No dogs permitted.

Dark Skies Walk
Saturday 30th March, Starts at 6:30pm - Meet at the Yurt
The walk will cover 3-4 miles of trails, and weather permitting, stop for some amazing star gazing opportunities. Please be aware the route will be on a range of surfaces and may be wet and muddy. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Please bring a torch per person if possible. A red filter is ideal for when we stop to star gaze otherwise we will be turning the torches off! Dogs and children welcome.

Theatre By The Lake - Open Space

Be the first to experience new performances from local talent as artists present work-in development of all types – from spoken word to music and dance to drama.
This much-loved annual event gives you the opportunity to meet and support creative people from Cumbria and be entertained, and perhaps even surprised, by their work.
There will be a selection of performances on offer, each lasting about 15 minutes and you’ll be invited to share your feedback in a relaxed and friendly environment
