Smash Hit Comedy One Man, Two Guvnors Coming Soon To Theatre By The Lake
This summer Theatre by the Lake is thrilled to present the international smash hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors, from 20 July to 3 September.
The show is a co-production with Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse, and the Octagon Theatre, Bolton, where the show has just finished its run.
Richard Bean’s much-loved modern farce, an adaptation of the classic A Servant to Two Masters, was a huge hit when it was first produced at the National Theatre in 2011, with James Corden in the lead role. It garnered five star reviews across the board, with the Daily Mail describing it as ‘The funniest show on the planet’ and the Guardian calling it ‘A triumph’. Following its run on the Olivier stage at the National, it then went on to a sell-out run in the West End. The NT Live film of the show has delighted millions across the globe, including during the first 2020 lockdown when One Man, Two Guvnors was the first ‘National Theatre at Home’ show released.
The story is set in 1963, and follows the antics of recently fired Francis Henshall, as he attempts to juggle duties for two new ‘guvnors’, trying to keep them apart to avoid discovery of his double life – with hysterical results.
A talented cast of 11 star in this brand-new production, including actor-musicians who make up a skiffle band playing live music throughout the show.
In his professional stage debut, Jordan Pearson (Ladhood, BBC, and Coronation Street, ITV) stars in the role of Francis.
Playing the role of Dolly is Polly Lister, who Theatre by the Lake regulars will be delighted to see return to the theatre. Polly has performed in several TBTL Summer Seasons, including 2015 for which she won the UK Theatre Award for Best Actress for her role in Abigail’s Party.
Directed by Octagon Artistic Director Lotte Wakeham, the creative team also includes: Colin Falconer (set designer), Katie Scott (associate set designer and costume designer), John Nicholson (physical comedy director), Jordan Li-Smith (musical director), Jane Lallijee (lighting designer) and Andy Graham (sound designer).
Don’t miss this feel-good, laugh-out-loud summer extravaganza. Tickets start at £10 – find out more at www.theatrebythelake.com or call the Box Office on 017687 74411.
