Keswick Mountain Festival Announces Packed Sports And Live Music Line-up To Open The 2022 Summer Festival Season

Keswick Mountain Festival (KMF) has revealed details of its 2022 line-up, when the event will return to its traditional May slot and kick off the summer festival season. Tickets are now available at www.keswickmountainfestival.co.uk for a packed programme of sports and outdoor events, and two nights of live music. The 2022 Keswick Mountain Festival will run from 20-22 May, based at the Festival Village in Crow Park, with the backdrop of Derwentwater and the Lake District fells.

Founded in 2007, KMF is now one of the UK’s best-loved outdoor festivals. Each event attracts thousands of visitors to the iconic fells and lakes of Cumbria with its unique mix of live entertainment, sports races, outdoor adventures, high profile speakers, taster activities, exhibitor stands, KMF Accessibility Zone, and camping for all of the family.

KMF’s 2022 schedule of sports and outdoor races and challenges includes 18 confirmed running, cycling, swimming, multi-sport and hiking events over two days, with more in the pipeline. Well established favourites like the adidas TERREX Trail Runs, Back O’Skiddaw Cycling Sportive and Aquasphere Derwent Bay Swims return, alongside more recent additions like the Hell In The Fells Gravel Ride, Coledale Hike and Walla Crag Walk. The full schedule is available on the KMF website and organisers are offering ‘early bird’ entry prices for anyone who books a place before the end of January 2022.

Earlier than usual, KMF has also confirmed details of the live music that will entertain visitors in the Festival Village over two nights. Headlining on Friday 20 May will be English working class Celtic-folk-punk band Ferocious Dog, bringing a high energy live reputation that reflects the group’s roots and name. Ferocious Dog will be supported by acid croft pioneers Shooglenifty, the euphoric soul, indie, folk, disco and art rock of Hope and Social, and, returning to KMF, the Batala Samba reggae drumming band.

Huey Morgan - DJ, raconteur, author, producer, broadcaster and Fun Lovin’ Criminal - will headline on Saturday 21 May. A regular presence on BBC 6 Music and Radio 2, Huey will bring his New York Lower East Side sensibility to Cumbria with a DJ set at KMF that will join the dots between funk, soul, disco, classic hip hop and rock ’n’ roll. An eclectic Saturday night line-up will also include Badness, with a multi award-winning show that showcases the ska and Two Tone explosion of the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Complete Stone Roses, one of the UK’s most well-known, most seen and most successful tribute bands, and comedy folk band Lancashire Hotpots.

KMF has a wide range of ticket options for each night of live music or for the whole weekend and there are ‘early bird’ offers available for these until the end of January. Everyone who enters a sports or outdoor event at KMF will also receive a ticket for one of the nights of entertainment in the Festival Village.

KMF festival director Nicola Meadley comments: “We’re very excited that we have been able to return Keswick Mountain Festival to May and help kick start the summer for everyone. After all that has happened during the last two years, we think that 2022 is going to be the year that live events really take off again, especially in the outdoors, and we’ll be at the vanguard of that. Being able to confirm our live music line-up so early is a sign of how much determination there is to make this the best KMF yet, and we have more exciting developments to reveal in the coming months.”
