Emergency Bounce Back Appeal Raises £730,000
Calvert Lakes’ Emergency Bounce Back Appeal has raised £730,000 and secured its “immediate future”, says the charity as the Appeal draws to a close.
The Lake District Calvert Trust launched its Emergency Bounce Back Appeal at the end of November 2020 having lost over £1 million of income due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The response to the Appeal has exceeded all expectations. As a result, Calvert Lakes will reopen on 21 June 2021 with Covid-19 secure policies in place and all outdoor activities available.
Calvert Stables and Calvert Reconnections, the Trust’s new Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) rehabilitation Centre, are also on course to open in early June 2021.
“Thanks to the success of our Emergency Bounce Back Appeal we can now chart a course for the future,” said Giles Mounsey-Heysham, Chairman of the Trustees at the Lake District Calvert Trust.
“The support we have received has been absolutely incredible - and I would like to pay a personal tribute to everyone who has supported our Bounce Back Appeal. It has secured the Trust’s immediate future and we are so grateful for the support.”
Calvert Lakes is currently undergoing a refurbishment programme in advance of its reopening to ensure the Centre is fresh and ready for visitors.
“It’s all about providing the best possible Calvert experience,” added Giles.
“We can’t wait to open our doors - although a number of challenges remain. We are expecting to lose £500,000 of income this year despite furloughing most of the staff so we will continue to fundraise as our position remains extremely challenging.
“However, thanks to everyone rallying round and the success of the Appeal, we are at least out of the immediate danger of closing.
“We are also extremely grateful to those individuals that have been able to commit to supporting our recovery over the next few years through their Regular Giving donations.
“Although through very sad circumstances, the legacies we have received recently will have a massive impact, aiding the recovery and continuation of our service in the longer term for many thousands of people with disabilities.
“If you are considering leaving a financial gift to the Trust - to ensure that our work can continue by creating your own Calvert Legacy, please get in touch. The impact of your generosity will endure for years to come.”
Calvert Lakes is now taking bookings for 21 June 2021 onwards and Calvert Reconnections is open for referrals.
