Borrowers Needed For Theatre By The Lake's Christmas Production
Theatre by the Lake are looking for performers aged 11-14 to take part in their Christmas extravaganza, The Borrowers!
The theatre is excited to be presenting this classic tale by Mary Norton, and adapted for the stage by Theresa Heskins, for their Christmas 2022 production. Below the floorboards of a large old house, we are plunged into the quirky, wonky, miniature world of young Arietty and her family of Borrowers. Making use of anything and everything they find ‘upstairs’, from cotton buds to postage stamps, the Borrowers are the original up-cyclers. But Arietty refuses to be boxed in by her family’s caution about the big world beyond the floorboards. When she decides to go exploring, she comes across the dreaded Human Beans and nothing will ever be the same again.
Fizzing with acrobatic feats, magical storytelling and toe tapping tunes, follow us into the Borrowers’ hidden world as the Main House at TBTL gets turned into a giant adventure playground for these small yet indomitable folk.
Theatre by the Lake are looking for young performers to be part of the cast that will bring this story of adventure to life this Christmas. Not only will the young cast have plenty of fun making an unforgettable show, but it's also a fantastic opportunity to perform live on the Keswick stage alongside professional actors.
The roles are primarily movement and song based, and will include lots of interaction with the central characters. Rehearsals will take place 22 & 23 October, 31 October – 20 November (after school and Saturday sessions) and 21 to 24 November. Performances will be 25 November to 14 January. Auditions will be held 16 July.
