Booking Now Open For ‘Trailer Story’ – A Four Day Festival On Crow Park
Tickets for Trailer Story, a weekend-long programme of outdoor events, performances and community happenings in Crow Park, Keswick, are now on sale!
This four day festival of spoken word, theatre and comedy runs from Thu 5 August to Sun 8 August with support from the National Trust.
Celebrating our nation’s diversity, resilience and community, Trailer Story is a chance to enjoy outdoor theatre in socially distanced conditions in a truly stunning location. Performances will be housed in a touring truck, usually used to tour production sets around the country, but reimagined as a space for artists and audiences to meet.
Featuring a range of different artists and acts from across the country, the festival includes workshops, plays, comedy, spoken word events, beatboxing and even an astrology bingo session. The programme also features an afternoon showcase platform for local artists and several interactive family activities including a A Rain Walk and a Story Trail.
Grouped into morning, afternoon and evening slots, events can be unlocked through festival passes available from Theatre by the Lake. Each pass costs only £5 and gives access to two or more events from this exciting programme. Due to capacity restrictions, advance booking is advised, although a limited amount of ‘walk ups’ will be available on the day. Please note that some acts have age restrictions.
Audiences will be in socially distanced seating. Refreshments will be available from stalls outside the performance area, but visitors can bring their own food and non-alcoholic drinks into the enclosure. Please note this is an alcohol-free event.
Trailer Story has been built with sustainability at its core and visitors are encouraged to respect their natural surroundings and limit their impact on the environment.
The project is inspired by Theatre by the Lake and ETT’s origins – Century Theatre. Founded just after WWII, this collective toured the country in a pop-up space pulled by trucks called The Blue Box. The Blue Box eventually broke down on Lakeside car park where it remained for many years, leading to the campaign for the creation of Theatre by the Lake and a permanent home for theatre in Keswick. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Blue Box arriving in Keswick.
