CUMBRIAN CHARITY SEEKS NEW TRUSTEES

CUMBRIAN CHARITY SEEKS NEW TRUSTEES TO HELP LEAD THE WAY IN ACCESSIBLE OUTDOOR ADVENTURE INTO THEIR 50th ANNIVERSARY YEAR AND BEYOND…

The Keswick-based Lake District Calvert Trust is looking for new trustees to join it’s 10-strong voluntary board this Spring.

Comprising Calvert Lakes, a residential accessible outdoor activity centre above Bassenthwaite and a Riding for the Disabled accredited Stables on the edge of Keswick, The Lake District Calvert Trust have established a reputation as leaders in accessible outdoor adventure.

Each year, the Trust welcomes over 3000 guests, some living with the most profound disabilities, to experience all the Lake District has to offer – one of only a handful of centres around the UK to do so. In 2026, the Trust will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The Board is led by Chair of Trustees, Martin Mullin and comprises a group of dedicated and engaged individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences with one common goal – to ensure the long term health and success of the charity.

They are now looking for Trustees who share their values to join the board and help provide governance and strategic direction to all the Trust’s activities.

Martin commented:

“As well as a passion for the work of the Trust, we are particularly interested in hearing from professionals with the following experience: the hospitality sector – with focus on the guest experience; equine experience ideally within a commercial setting; operations and commercial experience and finally, lived experience of disability.”

Looking to the future, Martin added:

“Having overcome some challenging times including Covid and the cost-of-living crisis, I, the board and wider Calvert community are now looking firmly to the future and our 50th anniversary year in 2026. We are determined to ensure that our guests, even those with the most profound disabilities, continue to benefit from life-changing outdoor activities at the Lake District Calvert Trust now and for years to come.”
