Come join us to explore the wonderful heritage craft of stained glass with a contemporary twist, to
create a completely unique festive decorative ornament for your home or to give as a beautiful gift.

This 3-hour workshop will introduce you to the process of the tiffany foiling method to create a
selection of 2 or 3 beautiful and bespoke festive flower and leaf stems for you to take home on the
day. Think holly, winterberry, mistletoe, starflower, eucalyptus or even tulips and roses!

Suitable for both complete beginners, returning students who may have attended the spring flowers
workshop, or those already experienced working with glass, all you need to bring is yourself and an
open mind and some festive cheer!

Starting with an introduction to different types of glass and design, we’ll cover how to handle and
work with glass safely and show you examples of work to provide you with some inspiration or
pattern templates to base your individual pieces on.

Once you have chosen your glass from the wide selection of colours, textures and beads provided, I
will then guide you through how to cut and shape each individual piece of your flowers and leaves,
wrap them in the copper foil and then join them onto their stems. You can then finish your stems by
applying a number final touches such as wire, patina (darkening of the silver solder) or painted detail
should you wish before we stop to admire our work!

All tools, materials and safety equipment will be supplied. However, due to the nature of the craft,
please can you ensure you are wearing closed shoes (no sandals, crocs or sling-backs) and that long
hair is tied back. If you wear reading glasses, it is also advisable to bring these for the close detail
work!!

As the soldering process does involve lead based products, it is not advisable for pregnant women to
attend and children between the ages of 16 & 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Included in the cost of your workshop is cake and tea and coffee.
